The Fuel 04:15
The Fuel When you're feeling, like the world has got you down Turn up that music, and wipe away that frown When you're feeling, so tired and so drained Turn up that music, flick on some Coltrane Music is the fuel to feed our soul Music is the fuel to keep us whole Music is the fuel to feed our soul Music is the fuel to keep us whole Stuck in traffic, what a way to start the day Turn up that music, transport yourself away When the whole world, is falling at your feet Turn up that music, get up off that seat Music is the fuel to feed our soul Music is the fuel to keep us whole Music is the fuel to feed our soul Music is the fuel to keep us whole Music is the fuel to feed our soul Music is the fuel to keep us whole Music is the fuel to feed our soul Music is the fuel to keep us whole

Whatcha gonna do People looking down, treading you to ground People looking through you, like you don’t exist But many a great man has been in a place you’re in Been in a place that you’re in They call you names, set you up to take the blame What did I do, but be small, or different from you But many a great man has been in a place you’re in Been in a place that you’re in Hey you, whatcha gonna do, Whatcha gonna do, when that bad man come for you Hey you, stand up for yourself, Stand up for yourself ‘cause you’ll get help from no one else Hey you, whatcha gonna do, Whatcha gonna do, when that bad man come for you Hey you, stand up for yourself, Stand up for yourself ‘cause you’ll get help from no one else You can be sure, that they’re immature It’s what they’ll do, when they’re jealous of you But many a great man has been in a place you’re in Been in a place that you’re in So when you’re down, take a look around Be positive, ‘cause it’s your life to live But many a great man has been in a place you’re in Been in a place that you’re in Stand up for yourself ‘cause you’ll get help from no one else Stand up for yourself ‘cause you’ll get help from no one else Stand up for yourself ‘cause you’ll get help from no one else

Songomantis 04:33
Songomantis He’s a green machine from mother earth A drawn out face came straight from birth Long stick body all seeing eyes Crouching ready preying on flies Oh little mantis stealthin’ around Oh little mantis what have you found Oh little mantis stealthin’ around Oh little mantis what’s your sound Hanging around like an acrobat Defying gravity what you think about that A silent killer, moving so light Camo kit, He’s out of sight I put him outside but he comes back in He must be on a diet ‘cause his body’s so thin Fish bowl eyes from outer space Pondering the world moving with grace He’s a green machine from Aotearoa Must be around thanks to good old Noah Scanning the room looking so wise Stalking his prey ready to surprise Songomantis Songomantis Songomantis

Luck of the draw It’s six a.m. and you’re on the road Board in the back trying to reach the snow The weather’s grey as you pull up to the gate The desert road’s closed so you’ll have to wait Luck of the draw Luck of the draw Luck of the draw Luck of the draw You find a dollar lying on the street You knock your head getting to your feet You’re going for a job and it’s down to two You get that call but they didn’t pick you Luck of the draw Luck of the draw Luck of the draw Luck of the draw When luck goes your way, you’d better grab it with both hands When luck goes your way, get up and make a stand Some luck is good some luck is bad Turn that bad luck into the best that you had Luck has a way of evening out So make the most of that luck when it comes about Luck of the draw Luck of the draw Luck of the draw Luck of the draw So make the most of that luck when it comes about, oh yeah So make the most of that luck when it comes about, oh yeah So make the most of that luck when it comes about, oh yeah

Bethells 04:00
Bethells I got a call at a quarter to four, to go for a surf on the coast Jumped in my truck, with my paddle and ski and headed on down to the sea Ten foot waves, water so fresh and a crest that banked to the left What a way to spend a summers day, riding the swells at Bethells Just one of those days when you sit back and say Here and now there’s nothing I’d change When all is so right, and you surf until there's no sunlight Just one of those days when you sit back and say Here and now there’s nothing I’d change When all is so right and you surf until there's no sunlight The shadows grow tall as the sun starts to fall water turns black from blue What a way to spend a day with a beer and a BBQ Sound of summer on a West Coast beach when Neppy meets Mother Earth The crash and boom of a perfect wave, and the song of a Tui bird. Feel that salty spray as you’re carving down the wave What a way to spend a summer’s day, riding the swells at Bethells Just one of those days when you sit back and say Here and now there’s nothing I’d change When all is so right, and you surf until there's no sunlight Just one of those days when you sit back and say Here and now there’s nothing I’d change When all is so right and you surf until there's no sunlight The shadows grow tall as the sun starts to fall, water turns black from blue What a way to spend a day with a beer and a BBQ

Late 03:56
Late Now listen here, one and all There’s a problem going on and we’re talking the fall You know, what’s going on They take your money, quick as a flash But when a robber comes knocking, they stump with no cash You know, what’s going on Procrastination, all through the nation, Why do you make me late, when you procrastinate? L, looks like you’re going to have to wait for a bit A, problems come up we’re finding hard to fix T, too many jobs no time to spare E, ven though we had the time to play solitaire L, bro you’re wasting my time A, day or two would have been fine T, temperature’s rising, you’re making me wait E, ven though you said you wouldn’t make us late

Blue 04:25
Blue When I first saw your face, across the crowded room, When I saw you Those songs they came alive, with more excitement and drive When I saw you But when will she notice me What should I say when we first meet Every time I see you take away the colour blue Every time I see your face that blue has gone without a trace Just one look is all I need to know that you have noticed me Every time I see you I know that you’re my 'I love you' One late night New Year’s Eve while walking down the beach When we first met Will you go out with me, the rest is history When we first met When I’m in bed lying next to you, my mind's more at ease and yours is too Every time I see you take away the colour blue Every time I see your face that blue has gone without a trace Just one look is all I need to know that you have noticed me Every time I see you I know that you’re my ‘I love you’ Sometimes you make me sad sometimes you make me mad Now I’m with you We argue just for fun I still know you’re the one Now I’m with you We have our fights we have our blues But I can’t imagine being without you Every time I see you take away the colour blue Every time I see your face that blue has gone without a trace Just one look is all I need to know that you have noticed me Every time I see you I know that you’re my ‘I love you’

Light Of Day 05:09
Light of day Perched at my desk, I need to take a rest, I’ve got a ten tonne pile in front I’ll tell you where it’s at, wish I was making Skit Skats, Jamming some tunes in my room All I want to do is play some tunes in my room But all I seem to do is work from eight 'til late Hey hey hey I never see the light of day Hey hey hey I never see the light of day At my work station running simulations The more I do the more to be done I’ll tell you what I’ll do, grab some breakfast with you Washed down with a cup of fresh brew All I want to do is play some tunes in my room But all I seem to do is work from eight 'til late Hey hey hey I never see the light of day Hey hey hey I never see the light of day But when the deadline's met and I have finished the set I'll be ready for you But when the deadline’s met and I have finished the set I'll be ready for you All I want to do is play some tunes in my room But all I seem to do is work from eight 'til late Hey hey hey I never see the light of day Hey hey hey I never see the light of day All I want to do is play some tunes in my room But all I seem to do is work from eight til late Hey Hey Hey I never see the light of day Hey Hey Hey I never see the light of day

about

Spiral has a groove. The groove is alive; it has soul, it has emotion, it can get hot and sweaty and it does not fear to get a little dirty.

Where soul meets samba, rock and jazz meet reggae, and horns rub shoulders with lush keys and broken strings, these are the places where Spiral unites.
Hailing from Auckland, on New Zealand's picturesque West coast, you'll be treated to soaring vocals, raging solos, a horn section that packs a phat punch from a collective of some of New Zealand's finest musicians.
"What's that sound?" is their debut album featuring 11 original unique tracks crafted about places and experiences living in New Zealand. The album combines multiple stylistic elements with heavy beats, quirky lyrics, catchy melodies and lush harmonies that will provide the listener new sounds on every repeat listen.
